A PPCM (Peripartum Cardiomyopathy) Prevention Project

Who WE are

Our Mission

We promote & fight for healthy pregnancies.

PPCM Fund Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded by PPCM survivors dedicated to saving unsuspecting mothers and their families from Peripartum Cardiomyopathy. PPCM is a pregnancy induced heart failure; a relatively unknown yet deadly heart disease surrounding new mothers. Shockingly, we have found that  big-name institutions such as  "ACOG"  (The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists)  DO NOT  support PPCM matters in regards to PREGNANCY, DELIVERY, POSTPARTUM CARE, WOMEN'S HEALTH, PROCEDURES. AND  PATIENT EDUCATION . We are on a mission to implement systems, spread awareness and further research & aid in the prevention of Peripartum Cardiomyopathy as well as provide support to the families that have been deeply affected as a result of PPCM.  We spread awareness in order to save lives!

No mother needs to die, no child needs to be motherless.

"Early Diagnosis Saves Lives"

A key part of our mission is to raise the standard testing and labs with Implementing  the NT-proBNP &  EKG/Echo

In Every OBGYN Office For All Pregnancies.

"The Pro B-Type natriuretic peptide (NT-pro BNP) can save a life!

Take action against Pregnancy Induced Heart-Failure".

Every new mom must get an EKG/Echocardiogram in the 3rd Trimester .

PPCM Symptoms & Emergency Risk Factors

❤ Difficulty Breathing

This includes severe shortness of breath anytime sitting, when walking, climbing stairs, or even lying flat. Symptoms may get worse at night. Chest pain &/or tightness in the chest and heart often is mistaken for something less serious;

this can include a heaviness, tightness, pressure or pain.

 -Heart Palpitations or skipping beats

-Fast Heart Rate

  ❤ Fainting or Dizziness

This includes sensations of feeling like you're going to pass out,

 especially while seated or standing.

Pay attention to:

-Low blood pressure or may drop when standing-

-Hard time brushing your hair

-High Blood Pressure

-Excessive Fatigue

-Mood Disorders

               ❤ Swelling & Weight Gain

This unusual weight gain is mainly due to an increase of fluid in the body,

especially in the arms, hands and feet; if more than

2 pounds in 1 day or 5 pounds in a week,

see a cardiologist immediately.

Look out for:

-Swelling of the ankles & neck veins

-Increased nighttime urination

-Morbid Obesity

- Gestational Diabetes

-Pain in abdomen

❤  PPCM effects your Gums & Teeth

Teeth can effect your heart BIG time before and after birth.

PPCM Symptoms gets worse AFTER giving birth. PPCM does not peak until AFTER the newly mom gives birth!
