"Awareness Day Is Everyday"
PPCM Fund Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded by PPCM survivors dedicated to saving unsuspecting mothers and their families from Peripartum Cardiomyopathy. PPCM is a *preventable pregnancy induced heart failure; a relatively unknown yet deadly heart disease surrounding new mothers. We are on a mission to implement systems, spread awareness, further research & aid in the prevention of Peripartum Cardiomyopathy.
We strive to provide substantial support to the families that have been deeply affected as a result of PPCM, in their time of need.
"Hundreds of women die each year from pregnancy issues; Most of the deaths could be prevented"
~ The Washington Post

"Early Diagnosis Saves Lives"
A key part of our mission is to raise the standards for:
screening, standard tests, & lab-work; with implementation both during and after pregnancy.
Get your NT-ProBNP test scheduled.
Know your heart EF%.
The Pro B-Type natriuretic peptide (NT-pro BNP) test, chest X-ray, EKG & Echocardiogram
can save lives with early diagnosis before and after delivery.
❤ Difficulty Breathing
This includes severe shortness of breath anytime sitting, when walking, climbing stairs, or even lying flat. Symptoms may get worse at night. Chest pain &/or tightness in the chest and heart often is
mistaken for something less serious;
this can include a heaviness, tightness, pressure
or pain. Also:
-Heart Palpitations or skipping beats
-Fast Heart Rate
❤ Fainting or Dizziness
This includes sensations of feeling like you're going to pass out,
especially while seated or standing.
Pay attention to:
-Low blood pressure or may drop when standing-
-Hard time brushing your hair
-High Blood Pressure
❤ Swelling & Weight Gain
This unusual weight gain is mainly due to an increase of fluid in the body,
especially in the arms, hands and feet; if more than
2 pounds in 1 day, or 5 pounds in a week,
see a cardiologist immediately.
Look out for:
-Swelling of the ankles & neck veins
-Increased nighttime urination
- Gestational Diabetes
-Pain in abdomen
❤ PPCM affects your Gums & Teeth
Teeth can be BIG tell tale signs of heart issues.
Important Note: PPCM "Peripartum Cardiomyopathy" symptoms get worse AFTER giving birth because PPCM does not peak until DURING or AFTER the new mom gives birth!
